Almost a year ago, my amazing partner and I got engaged. It was one in a series of romantic nights on the beach in Grand Cayman. With a lighted box and waves crashing in the darkness, Jon asked me to marry him. And I said yes.
As we sort out the details to our Memorial Day Weekend 2016 nuptials, our engagement session was taken about a month ago in a few of our favorite spots. Talented photog friend Heidi Shapiro captured these amazing moments, starting with a morning coffee session.
It was reflective of one of my favorite parts of our days, blissful mornings with my love.
Next, we got fancy for some photos in Goodale Park. I got this wonderful flowy blush number from Ladybird last year, and have been hanging on to it for such a moment. Jon wore a tie from Wholly Craft with a custom tie bar I gave him for the holidays.
A former coworker, Sylvia Totzke, gifted me some amazing blush pearls. Now, I can't imagine not wearing them with every snazzy outfit. You can see 'em in this part, and the next.
I love this bench photo da most.
Lastly, we took a trip to one of our favorite haunts, 16-Bit Bar+Arcade. The idea to stop there came about in the days leading up to the engagement session, and just made sense. It's our de facto date night, whether with groups or just the two of us. Heidi said it was her favorite spot to that we took as a couple. It's beers. It's old-school video games. It's very casual and very us.
He didn't let me win. I won fair and square.
Jon: never not pinballing.
It's not everyday that you get such incredible photos of common themes in your life. All of these scenes are so representative of our lives as they are in Columbus. We're so lucky to have found each other (thanks, OK Cupid).
