GIFT GUIDE // YOUR FAVORITE YOGI
It's hard to believe that we're deep in the holidays! After a restful Thanksgiving with family and chosen family, it's time to prep for all that December brings.
Though the spirit of celebrating Christmas, Hannukah and New Year's (and other holidays) aren't about buying, I do love to honor loved ones with a few meaningful gifts. If you're stumped on what to get for the yogi on your list, here's a few ideas.
1. 2,100 ASANAS, DANIEL LACERDA
This book gets rave reviews in the yoga community, especially among teachers and those looking to deepen their practice. With a brief history of yoga, full-color images and detailed descriptions, the book covers variations and modifications for all sorts of yoga poses. This one is definitely on my list, too!
2. YOGA STRAP
Until recently, I didn't have a yoga strap for my home practice. Besides yoga blocks and a mat, this is another great prop to have on hand when you're working on a pose outside of the studio.
4. YOGA WHEEL
The yoga wheel is another fun prop for at-home practice. The wheel can support backbends, headstands, heart openers and more. There are plenty of yoga wheel tutorials, which look really fun!
5. MAT DUFFLE BAG
Oh, my gawd, this is so cute (and true). For the fitness geek (who also loves a slice every now and then), this is the perfect gift! I love love love it. There are plenty of duffle options if this one doesn't strike your fancy.
6. ESSENTIAL OIL STORAGE BOX
Essential oils are amazing for guiding the breath and for focusing attention during meditation. I love using essential oils as a body scent as well! The box is a perfect organizer if you know your loved one has many bottles, or you could help start their collection with this essential oils kit.
7. COTTON BLANKET
Lots of people that practice yoga love to use the blanket as a standard prop. You can use it to support the hip in pigeon pose, fold it under the spine and neck during savasana, and endless other poses. No matter if your friend has one already, you can always use a few hanging around the house.
8. YOGA MAT ORNAMENT
How cute is this little stocking stuffer! This ornament is perfect for someone who always has a mat slung over their back. I love that it's handmade on Etsy!
9. RECTANGULAR BOLSTER
I love bolsters for similar reasons I love the blanket. It's a comforting prop that can assist in heart openers in savasana, support the sits bones in sukhasana (easy seated pose) and it works wonders in a restorative practice. For those who have never used one, it's much denser than a regular pillow, and can easy support your weight without sinking deep in.
Hope these suggestions make your holiday shopping a little bit easier!
