THE BEST VERSION OF YOU
I recently wrote a post about the way in which I've set New Year's intentions. As I went through the first week of the year, I still didn't settle on the word that will guide my year. I've thought about the words "focus", "gentleness" and "confidence", and although this are all things I want in 2017, they just didn't sit quite right. They just didn't grasp what I wanted out of this year.
I'm really grateful for what I accomplished in 2016, no matter how hard or hazy it was. I started teaching yoga, I got married and I began a different career as a freelance graphic designer. This most definitely came about because of my intention of truthfulness — to be truthful to myself and what is best for me.
Regardless, I still wanted to settle on an intention for 2017. Then, it came to me in the shower (#showerthoughts). After sudsing up my hair, I wondered about the best version of myself. What is it? When does it occur? I had many answers.
I am the best version of me when I create.
I am the best version of me when I collaborate.
I am the best version of me when I work while inspired and stop when I'm empty.
I am the best version of me when I work out and do yoga consistently.
I am the best version of me when I eat a balanced diet and get enough sleep.
I am the best version of me when I am present with friends and family.
If picking a single word just isn't working for you, answer this question as often as is necessary: When am I the best version of me? Let these answers guide what you choose for this year.
